Inspiration is a blessing. Today I was inspired to make ice cream using only what I had and I am glad I did! I shall call it Vanilla Cinnamon Malt ice cream. Probably the creamiest concoction of all time. I shall share it with you:
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup whipping cream
1/3 cup Horlicks malted beverage powder
1 overfull tablespoon pure vanilla extract
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tablespoon cinnamon (or more, to taste)
Put whipping cream in saucepan and begin to heat on medium-low. Sprinkle in Horlicks. Whisk Horlicks into whipping cream as it heats. When it is completely dissolved, remove from heat. Add sweetened condensed milk and stir until dissolved.
Cool mixture.
When cool, stir in beaten eggs and vanilla.
Chill until very cold.
Follow ice cream maker’s instructions to churn.
As it begins to thicken, sprinkle, or shake in cinnamon powder.
Churn to completion and gorge thyself!
(and, steeling this bit from Ben and Jerry’s -how about adding some chooped up Whoppers at the end? Just a thought)
My wife, my daughters, my dog, my friends are blessings, as are warm days and buzzing crickets.
Time, precious time, is a blessing.
